Apologies if this is a bit of a rant. I just lost my rather more succinct post in a brief loss-of-hand-coordination moment, so I'm even more annoyed than normal Hopefully I will stay roughly on-topic.

I hope it will be sometime before I get bored of GW. There's plenty of places to see if you go a little off the beaten track. I have spent a little time (after completing a few quests for example) wandering between towns using routes that aren't there as a quest. Finding out what is hidden under those misted-over bits of the map makes for a fun 'evening out'. I ran (and fought a lot of course) from Riverside Province, all the way up to the Temple of Ages. Great scenery, some good collectors and even a few good item drops (though see my note below). OK, so this woun't keep you amused for weeks, but just when you thought you had seen everything - there's more there if you loook.

They do need to add a little more in the next chapter to keep us (or at least me) interested. A little more freedom to roam would be nice - being able to walk up those bits you just can't walk up now. Buildings you can enter - that sort of stuff. On the whole making the GW world a little more complete.

On the negative side, I do wish they would stop nerfing everything, as this IS spoiling my enjoyment of the game. There are absolutely no gold item drops anymore, few purple and the blue are just ----. Part of the fun is finding some good weapons and then trying them out - this is rapidly becoming impossible! I could buy some decent weapons trading, but everyone is out to rip everyone else off, and with all the nerfing even obtaining enough gold to be ripped-off for is becoming a little annoying. Add to chapter 2 wishlist: Some hidden quests & locations where you can actually get some decent items.

Also, they need to make the FoW and UW a little easier for us tame Europeans to get into. I really hate being reliant on the Euro PvP - and I have little interest in PvP myself. I made my first ever trip to FoW yesterday. Maybe I could have got there sooner if I'd stayed up till 3am - which is just about the only time we win, but I'm too old for that malarkey.

Oh yes! and they've even nerfed FoW. If people are to be believed, then everyone used to walk away with some good drops from FoW - bah! Not me.

Cluck gibber woof bark.

All i can say is one reason i never bought WoW or games alike, is because of the monthly fee. I have a life and spend money. Guild Wars offered me to be able to play a beautiful game that was free! (Apart from the actual fee to buy the game) You can rant and moan all you want. If you dont like Guild Wars or got bored then get another game!
Games always get boring eventually and its hard to replay them and enjoy it more than the first time of completing it. My girlfriend is going to a University 2 hours away from me in october. She knows i love my games and it'll be hard for us to see each other in the week. I introduced her to Guild and she loved it! It will be a great way to play games AND talk to my girlfriend with msn on in the background.
Im just pointing out that Guild Wars has a lot more good points than bad.
Of course Guild Wars has a future. I enjoy every minute of playing it Everyone gets annoyed at games from time to time and a lot of people expect a lot of different things. Imagine what the game developers are trying to do. Trying to satisfy how many million minds? I give them credit for making such an excellent game and i look forward to the expansions!

Top things that are broken in Guild Wars in my oppinion.

Henchmen are stupid, we can't concentrate on different opponents without them swapping to my target and are constantly dodging techniques such as "heal area."

Ecconomy is screwed up, the stores buy too low and there isn't enough space to hold it all. It's completely ridiculous that we have 25 spaces to store things across 4 accounts and we actually have to put money towards expanding our already small inventory space. Merchants buy too low, and selling to players is a pain because of all the idiots who try to sell to the public and not the traders.

Not skill oriented, I'm constantly bored with the game by just walking to destination to destination to obtain a small reward. I'm sick of killing monsters because there's nothing skill oriented about it when I go through them, I'm just trying to either run by them because I'm sick of the same old crap or die trying. A mesmer/monk such as myself isn't about to waste time trying to annoy a monster by disrupting it's spells and what not. The NPCs are too stupid to comprehend that I'm trying to annoy it. They can't make mistakes either.

Runners to places, why should warriors and rangers be able to run by monsters to gain huge profits when I'm not able to do nearly half of what they do?
"Charging 2k to run to Draknors Forge from Beakons Perch anyone who had the misfortune of picking a cruddy class! Anyone?! Last call!"

Getting all skills and good stuff far to boring and excruciatingly painful. It's easier to go through the game with another character than unlock other skills with a character.

Refund Points, what are the point of them? I think they should get those shit things out of there and make them like skills, so you can't take points off of skills or put them on while in a stage, only in a town or outpost before you leave. (Unless you level up, similar to how you can finish quests and equip those skills.)

Naked dancing people and other cyper sex emotes. Well that's really just the morons doing them, so there's nothing I can personally do about it.

Things I think should be added.

Leveling up to 30 for more attributes.

Allow you to pay for additional skills for a third class (Which would not allow you to level up past 6 or use any elite skills from, but let you alternate between the second and third professions in the desert.)

Ability to buy and sell faction, skill points, and elite skills from players.

a wall near beacons perch.

look at diablo 2
The main flaw with that arguement is that in D2 you hosted your own server, it didn't claim to be a MMO.
They are addressing issues with post ascention content.
Perhaps it was a lack of foresight in the original instance which causes the majority of issues with PvE, i.e. Create a game that is easy to get to maxed out status then don't include content for maxed out character. (bar UW and FoW) Even that is speculation.
As for the 400+ hours already, well worth it, I have to agree, but even so there is something nagging at the back of my mind, perhaps it is due to the reveiws, maybe its the PR, or the fact that it is Hosted by the devs not the public. These factors give the impression that GW should be more, should last longer even if it doesn't.
Perhaps its because alot of the Best AAA games often last longer than 400+ hours, BF2, UT, Diablo 1 & 2, NWN, Quake 1,2 & 3. There are plenty of games like this. GW is trying to be like these, weither or not it can time will tell. It is only 3 1/2 months old. (retail)
It has a future for certain, but I am sure they want a future simlar to D2, with tousands still playing it, rather than say Tribes which has a small hardcore following.
Lets hope that the Devs can put some magic back in the game, I have to admitt it is harder to do today than it was 5 years ago. Simply put the MMOG market is saturated with fantasy type titles.

I still remember installing and starting the game up and the WOW factor it delivered, I also remember my first 2 characters completing the game. I still play them now, but I have to admitt I don't play as zealously, and the game nolonger has a WOW factor.

They will no doubt make a fantastic chapter 2, and will have learned alot from chapter 1, by that time I would also supect that a great deal of the current 'flaws' will have be sorted and addressed. This as with anything else will be tooo little tooo late for some, but such is life you can never please everyone.

What I hate that is always happening to me.

Warrior logged in to opposing team.
Mesmer (You) logged in to ally team.
Warrior is using no skill!
Mesmer is trying to live, because that's the only skill they have!
Mesmer is dead!
Warrior dances because he is awesome for having absolutely no skill whatsoever liek OH EM GEE!

It's just a pain in the ass because I am constantly being killed by warriors who have no skills at all. It's really just a load of garbage.

My ranger has been owned by mesmers on occation, and my ranger can generally wipe the floor with a warrior, with interupts and major degen.
You probably need to adjust the skills you are using, It is easy for a mez to dishout 10 degen with deep wound over 10 secs which is alot of damage, that with soothing images and empath = 1 demoralised and very dead warrior if they aint got a good healer with them.

*wonders what did that have to do with the original topic o.O* ?

if you're talking about arenas, good mesmers usually have NO problems at all to kill a warrior 1v1.

the thing abt guildwars or other mmorpg games, for that matter, are that they do (inevitably) reward ppl for playing many hrs i.e many items to sell to noobs at unbelievable prices.. or leveling up to lvl 20..
thing abt replayablity is whether there's always more to explore.. constant change n that sorta thing.. now if guild wars 2 came out n there was NO such thing as leveling up. how wld that make u all feel? n of course u'd need to learn skills but then comes the time factor(playing more to get better skills) or perhaps anet/ncsoft mite make the armour/weapons/skills such that there is no high protection/power but they are good only against specific professions or armour.. that wld bring the game to really large difficulty level..

I'd say GW is at a bit of a crossroads right now. The novelty has worn off some, and the flaws are getting harder to overlook (as with any game - look at WoW's current server problems...). If ANet can make the summer update, and the next round of rebalancing etc, really count, then I think they've got a good start for a bright future. If not, then well, they might be in a little more trouble.

One interesting possibility is, if the worse happens and it all goes down the tubes, maybe they'll release the source and the fan community can make it into the game its MEANT to be :P

okay how hard are we really being here? I had WoW and tho it is pretty as hell and seemed larger than GW I dropped it because it was actually not very exciting (tho i miss the colors and music and animation). I played EQ and SWG and dropped those after two weeks. Ive played this game, however, about 8 hours a day for the last 3 months.

OF COURSE IT WILL GET BORING!!!

I have logged like 900 hours and when I thought it was getting boring I just made a new character class. I have now made 4 full toons. 900 hours anything will get boring after 900 hours, so think about how much time youve spent. Any "sane" person who doesnt spend 8 hours a day at the game will not get so bored, so probably no one important is listening too hard to us. I think this game is great, second only to warcraft 3, which I played the crap out of for a year until this came out.

Id like to see two new classes: one melee type and one caster, or just one melee, since that is weakest area atm. also maybe give us 15 new skills for each class, a trading system, better drops. I went through the whole game missions and a handfull of off quests and got one really bad gold drop- and thats just wrong.

"Whats the point in that"? All thats left in this game is wandering arround beating up on monsters. The final straw was when guild meber asked " what should we do now"?. This game needs a purpose and some rewards for accomplishment. 1 point "wow" and at L20 its useless. I left the game and never finished. When the expansion comes and is the same then I defenetly will no buy it. I'll wait another year and get the new Diablo instead. IMO They had a great idea and blew it by trying to make it skill based.
I don't play a game to learn, I play to let out the daily frustation and get some satisfaction by beating up an evil monster that isn't as strong as I am.
bye all
Can I have your stuff?
